The Sohamvidya Journey: From Workshops to a Movement
The Sohamvidya Journey
From Workshops to a Movement
The Beginning
This is the journey of Sohamvidya—where it began, how it has evolved, and where it hopes to go from here.
Sohamvidya was founded in 2019 by Dr. Malladi Srinivasa Sastry, a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist with a longstanding interest in Sanskrit and the wisdom traditions of Sanātana Dharma.
Sohamvidya began quite simply through the Dive-Inwards workshops conducted by Dr. Malladi Srinivasa Sastry in Singapore and India. The idea was to bring together insights from psychology, Sanātana Dharma and practical self-enquiry—not merely as philosophical discussion, but as something that could be understood, practised and applied in everyday life.
When COVID changed the way people could meet, Sohamvidya's workshops moved online and became webinars. What initially appeared to be a limitation enabled Sohamvidya to reach participants beyond geographical boundaries. Even after COVID, Sohamvidya continued with both virtual and, whenever possible, in-person programmes.

Courses Evolved Organically
Over time, Sohamvidya's work developed into several structured courses.
The journey began with Dive Inwards to Discover Your Self. This was followed by Dive Inwards to Discover Your Inner Potential, and then Bring Out Your Best — The Sanātana Dharma Way.
More recently, Sohamvidya has developed another course, Becoming Rama in Everyday Life, exploring how the example of Sri Rama can help people approach the practical challenges, choices and responsibilities of contemporary life.
There are several other modules currently in development.
Through its website, YouTube channel, Facebook page and WhatsApp community, Sohamvidya seeks to make these ideas accessible to an increasingly wider group of people.
Yet through all these developments, the underlying purpose of Sohamvidya has remained the same:
Holistic Wellness through Sanātana Dharma and Native Wisdom.
From Courses to Books
As participants engaged more deeply with Sohamvidya's programmes, an important need became clear.
A workshop or webinar may introduce an idea and inspire reflection, but people also need something they can return to afterwards—a resource that allows them to reflect, practise, make notes and continue their journey independently.
That recognition led us, over the last two years, into another important phase—the development of self-help manuals and books based upon the Sohamvidya programmes.
The first of these books to be released is Dive Inwards — Discover Your Inner Potential.
Other books will follow.
A distinctive feature of Sohamvidya is that its work has developed organically. The courses, exercises, frameworks and books have emerged through years of teaching, reflection and interaction with participants.
Sohamvidya's aspiration is simple:
Completely original. Organically developed. Practically oriented.
The movement Sohamvidya seeks to encourage is:
Knowledge → Practice → Transformation → Service.
Knowledge becomes truly meaningful when it is applied. Practice can bring about personal transformation. Inner transformation, ideally, should eventually express itself through service and positive contribution to society.

From Sohamvidya to Hindumitra
This practical and societal dimension of Sohamvidya also contributed to the formation of the Hindumitra Foundation.
Hindumitra is an NGO that seeks to translate the spiritual values of Sanātana Dharma into practical initiatives in cultural, social and health-related areas.
In that sense, Sohamvidya and Hindumitra are connected by a natural progression—from understanding and transforming ourselves to contributing constructively to the society around us.
How Does Sohamvidya Help?
Sohamvidya's work can broadly be understood through four areas:
Educate. Train. Counsel. Research.
Sohamvidya educates by presenting the timeless wisdom of Sanātana Dharma in a form that can be understood and practically applied in contemporary life.
Sohamvidya trains by helping people develop knowledge, skills and practical approaches that contribute to personal growth and service.
Sohamvidya counsels by providing guidance and support for spiritual, social and mental wellbeing.
And Sohamvidya researches—exploring, integrating and contributing to knowledge, particularly at the interface between native wisdom traditions, psychology, wellbeing and contemporary life.
How Can You Become Part of This Journey?
The simplest way to become part of the journey is to learn by enrolling in Sohamvidya courses and experiencing the process directly.
Then deepen your engagement. The essential Sohamvidya courses together are designed as approximately a one-year learning journey.
Those who wish to take their involvement further can train to become Sohamvidya trainers.
Participants can also help bring Sohamvidya to their own communities. Those wishing to organise a workshop in their city or country are welcome to explore that possibility with Sohamvidya.
Although technology allows Sohamvidya to reach people around the world, in-person workshops continue to be highly valued. Face-to-face learning offers a special opportunity for questioning, reflection and direct human interaction.
Finally, participants can stay connected through the Sohamvidya website, YouTube channel, Facebook page and WhatsApp community.

Sohamvidya is still evolving. There is much more that Sohamvidya hopes to develop in the years ahead.
Sohamvidya looks forward to closer association with participants who may become learners, trainers, organisers, researchers and contributors to this continuing journey.
Learn. Grow. Serve. Be a force for good.
Throughout this continuing journey, Sohamvidya remains anchored to its central purpose:
Holistic Wellness through Sanātana Dharma and Native Wisdom.
ॐ तत् सत्।Om Tat Sat.
